This site is a personal website and blog. It has no accounts, no advertising, and no tracking cookies. This page explains the little data it does handle.

## Who is responsible

Muhammad Sumon Molla Selim, based in the Netherlands, runs **https://www.sumonselim.com** and is responsible for the data described here. Contact: [sumonmselim@gmail.com](mailto:sumonmselim@gmail.com).

## What data the site handles

### Comments

If you post a comment on an article, I store:

- the **name** you enter (up to 100 characters),
- the **comment text** (up to 2,000 characters),
- the **article** it belongs to, and the **time** you posted it.

Comments are public and appear under the article straight away. There is no email field, so I do not collect your email address. Your IP address is not stored with the comment. Please do not put personal information you want to keep private in your name or comment.

To keep out spam and bots, the comment form uses a hidden honeypot field and [Cloudflare Turnstile](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacy-policy/). Turnstile runs a check in your browser and sends the result, together with your IP address, to Cloudflare for verification. Cloudflare handles that data under its own privacy policy. The Turnstile script loads only on article pages.

### Article view counts

Each article keeps a single running total of how many times it has been opened. The counter stores no IP address, identifier or other personal data, only the number per article.

### Your browser's local storage

The site does not set cookies. It stores two display preferences in your browser's local storage so they are remembered on your next visit:

- your light or dark theme choice,
- whether the Matrix rain background is on or off.

This data stays on your device and is never sent to me. You can clear it any time in your browser settings.

### Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on [Cloudflare Pages](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacy-policy/). Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data (such as IP address, browser type and requested page) to deliver the site, protect it from abuse and measure aggregate traffic. I do not use this data to identify individual visitors.

### Embedded content from other websites

Some pages embed content from other services, for example YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud and the ADPList booking widget on the mentorship page. When such content loads, that service may receive your IP address, set its own cookies and track how you interact with the embed, just as if you had visited their site directly. I do not control this. Please read their privacy policies: [YouTube / Google](https://policies.google.com/privacy), [Vimeo](https://vimeo.com/privacy), [SoundCloud](https://soundcloud.com/pages/privacy) and [ADPList](https://adplist.org/privacy).

Fonts and images are served from this site itself. My certification badges on the About page come from Credly, but they are fetched when the site is built, so your browser does not contact Credly.

### Links to other sites

Articles and the About page link to other sites, such as GitHub and LinkedIn. Their privacy practices are their own.

## Why I handle this data

- Comments, view counts and the spam check: to run the discussion and keep the site free of abuse (legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Local storage preferences: to remember your display choices (they are strictly needed for the feature you switch on).
- Hosting logs: to deliver and secure the site (legitimate interest).

## How long I keep it

Comments are kept until you ask me to remove them or I delete them. View counts are kept as running totals. Local storage stays on your device until you clear it. Hosting logs are kept by Cloudflare under its own retention rules.

## Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask me to access, correct or delete the personal data I hold about you, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive a copy of it. In practice this mostly means a comment you wrote: email me with the article and the name you used, and I will remove it. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the [Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens](https://autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl/).

## Who I share data with

I do not sell your data and I do not share it for advertising. The only parties involved are the service providers named above (Cloudflare, plus the embed providers when you load their content).

## Changes

If this policy changes, I will update the date at the top of this page.
